I love the costumes! It looks like a "Chawa" style dance to me. Tell me that I'm right!
@PurdeeGem - wow, that's cool! yeah, i think that's what my daughter said; so did you learn ram thai when you were young?
@paulmkim - i feel so old. (lol) i've learned, performed as well as taught a dance or two (or was it three?). it's been a long while, though. anyway, i'm glad i was right. ... i sound like a bragger here ... lol
@PurdeeGem - no, not a bragger; that's cool. lydia said her teachers here have a friend who teaches in thai town, near hollywood. so if we ever go back, or visit, lydia wants to say hello to her.
i believe it. there's probably a lot of teachers from thai town/north hollywood area. it's great that lydia wants to meet her teachers' friend and say hello. i'm not at the level where i can teach everything since i have not undergone a ceremony. my mom wanted me to undergo a ceremony but I've yet to attend. if i teach, i can only teach dances that do not require the wearing of masks/elaborate "headware". (without the ceremony, i wouldn't even be able to perform such dances myself anyway.) i'd love to teach young church girls one day in the future. they'd have so much fun learning and dolling themselves up. i should put that on my to-do list.
