"Wow, what a stupid reason. There are lotions, oils, and creams to fix them. And not everyone gets them."
Some people never cease to amaze me.
THAT is lame. And vain.
hahahaaaa, dear oh dear.
@alkshepherd - That may not be true. After I had surgery I asked my doctor about "scar creams" and what not. He said that they don't actually work. They're just lotions and there's no actual research proving their claimed abilities. Said the same is true for creams claiming to diminish stretch marks. The damage is done, there will be signs of it for the rest of your life.

If that's her reasoning for wanting to help a parent less child, then fine. With so many children in need of homes, who cares? As long as she provides for the child and loves them unconditionally, what's the problem? Can she not show love and care for a child that has not come from her just the same?
My girlfriend bought me the postsecret book as a gift, its awesome!
If that's her attitude then fine "one less bad, selfish parent in the world"
my reason is just as selfish....i don't want something that big coming out of something that little. it grosses me out when i think about it and i want to throw up everytime i see a pregnant lady or even someone giving birth on tv. i imagine i feel the same way a guy does when they see someone get kicked in the groin.
I want to adopt 'cause...I want to adopt. I want a little asian girl or boy. :)
@starchica0 - That's understandable. Some people are like that. Don't worry about it. :)
I LOVE POST SECRET!
@as_i_grow. There actually is a creme that is prescribed by dermatologists that is for reducing lines, scars, wrinkles and stretch marks. It doesn't make them go away completely, but it shrinks them and reduces the appearance. I would know. I've used it.
and I think that who ever this woman is, its her choice...the children that she will adopt will probably be in a better situation with her than in the foster care system...so I guess in one way, she is doing the child a service, even if her reason is selfish.
Personally, I think that stretch marks are a small price to pay to bring in a beautiful baby. That's just me.
I sure hope I never get stretch marks... I won't refuse to get pregnant over it, but I can hope real hard...
@Tallon5 - really? that's awesome because everyone i know thinks i'm crazy. :)
@starchica0 - Yeah really. :) You're not crazy, just have different preferences, I guess. =)
I think more people should adopt, though not for this reason.
If she really loves babies and really hates stretch marks, adoption would probably be the route to go. But I hope her thoughts have ranged far beyond the possibility of stretchmarks.
@starchica0 - I felt the same...and I still had a child. I was actually very happy that I didn't deliver naturally. I was terrified and I am still terrified of something coming out of me that way.
I've never thought about stretch marks. /shrugs. Somehow, my Mom didn't get them, though. So things are maybe looking good for me?
Why not? As long as the child is loved, who cares how they came into the family?
More people should adopt. Save the body but adpotion may sound crass, but sometimes anything will do.
That's okay. The real reason Madonna adopts is so she can get people to watch her music videos again.
AMEN! Sorry, but I agree with that post haha. I think child birth/pregnancy is terrifying and gross. I mean congratulations and more power to those women who can go through with it and enjoy it, but it scares the Hell out of me. And the thought of what it would do to my body (I have enough issues with my body as it is) after I've worked so friggin' hard to like it somewhat..no thanks.
That and there's so many kids out there who deserve a nice life with a family who will love them no matter what....and the world is over-populated anyway..or at least getting there....and of course I do not care to bring my own flesh and blood into this world the way it is...so might as well try to make the lives of those who have been brought into it, but abandoned or orphaned, a little better. I'm definitely on the adoption band wagon.
i think i'll just continue to babysit my cousin's 4 year old twins...really that's the best birth control there is. :)
