this is a very emotional image.
what pain i would be in if i were that mother looking into her son's eyes.

that is so sad. im reading a book right now about iraq, it talks alot about how the coalition is rebuilding hospitals and schools and such. i cant even imagine what this must be like, living under an opressive dictatorship for so long, then with hope on the horizon such a joyfull time with the children being able to enroll in school for the first time in their lives, to end like this. so, before the bush bashers come out and blame bush, i will say it, yes it's true, if we werent there this wouldnt have happened, because

A: there would have been no school for this boy to enroll in so he wouldnt have been at that place at that time and
B: you never would have heard, much less cared about how or why he died.

Wow. Must be weird having that kind of nerve. Looking at the picture of the dead child and using it to defend the war that killed him.
  • ionekoa
actually, god(you are god right? the one qualified to judge me?) i didnt use the picture to defend the war, i commented on the tragedy of the picture and made a pre-emtive comment toward those who would use it as an opportunity to be bush-bashers.. of course judging based on your track record i couldnt count on you to be smart enough to realize that. your avatar by the way, sickens me, not because i am hostile toward Christianity, but rather because having a symbol of it next to your hateful comments is vomit inducing.

    That picture is absolutely heart-breaking.

Man, that pic really hits home.

"wars don't kill people. people kill people"

Yeah, uh, sick white bastards in charge send poor minority kids to war to kill people that haven't done shit wrong.

    How can you defend this?

The kid in that picture is dead. What did he do to us?

And don't use the whole "collateral damage" arguement. The end in no way justifies the means.

This is easily the most disgusting statement you've ever made.
  • thisboyissexy
I agree with thinmanni - just as money is not evil and that people are evil.

War is a product of people's actions. You are blaming the wrong people for this boy's death. I find your animosity towards a xangan stranger quite disgusting. You are just as wrong as the people you condemn. Look at yourself first before you speak with such disdain.

^^ My comment is in regard to lotta_valdez heated remarks.

All I want to know is where Quantum keeps getting these trout from - are you dividing by zero again? I haven't gotten my leg back!

As for that poor kid - there'd be more like him if we weren't involved in the Middle East. Some idiot with a nail-bomb entered a mosque in Pakistan and blew himself up - 50 dead and 100 wounded. Were U.S. troops there? No. The leadership in the U.S. may not make all of the right decisions but there are plenty of governments and groups who care nothing about human life.
And lotta, plenty of the middle class and white join the military.
  • pnklace
Sorry but, there are other ways to end oppressive governments. War is not the answer and it should never be the answer. There are always options.
  • lotta_valdez
"And lotta, plenty of the middle class and white join the military."

Recruiters are by far more active in poor minority communites. It's exploitation.

I was with a mother last night while her baby turned blue and fought to breathe,it was so heart wrenching to see ,and her baby lived.

I pray for the suffering and the grieving, that is all I can do.

seriously.. no mention of cross fire here, no mention of american or other coalition soldiers... gunmen opened fire on their car. it's not HORRIBLY uncommon and it happened before we went there and its what we, well not you because you would rather let them wallow in their misery, but we the rest of the people represented by our government are there to stop. as i said before, one of the biggest differences is if we werent over there you never would have known or even cared how this child lived or died.

and pnk, please do tell, what are the options for ending an oppressive government that murders women and children, rapes women, kills their athletes if they dont perform well. please, tell me how you plan to have rational dialogue with that person, i would LOVE to hear it.

"Yeah, uh, sick white bastards in charge send poor minority kids to war to kill people that haven't done shit wrong."

you're racist. when i was finishing high school, i had a recruiter calling almost every day. me, a white, middle class, skinny nerd. this does not prove how wrong you are, but to say that only minorities are going to war and doing things that any "normal" person would find wrong is ignorant, and racist. and when you try to stick up for people who plot to kill thousands of people out of pure hatred, it just makes you look even more ridiculous.

i say this with as much love as possible
