"Nearly half of all U.S. doctors fail to report incompetent or unethical colleagues, even though they agree that such mistakes should be reported." Here is the link: Link
"In 2000, the U.S. Institute of Medicine reported that up to 98,000 people die every year because of medical errors in hospitals alone." That's pretty staggering.. kill a small city a year from fuck ups. As a nursing student I sincerely hope I don't kill one of my patients one day :/
I bet a good chunk of them come from the hospital near my college. I'd rather risk the hour drive to the city than go to the one less than a mile away from school.
They only practice medicine, after all.
humans make errors so i think it's rather expected. the not reporting part is a bit more of a problem in my opinion. if your co-worker is making dangerous mistakes and you know, report.
I don't trust doctors. At least, not if they subscribe me drugs.
Once you make it into the elite fraternity, with a protected monopoly charging anything it want for its services and policing members for even thinking about offering services competitively at a discount, the last thing they'll do is admit they aren't gods.
The main motto of doctors is, "Circle the wagons."
^^^^agreed^^^^^^
Dr. Ron Paul for president.
And, the doctors who didn't report their colleagues violated the Hippocratic oath. Take away their medical licenses.
^^ technically, the Hippocratic oath also includes a part in there about not giving a woman anything to induce abortion.
What about those doctors??
Yep. Have you ever watched Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs or E.R?
Oh my! There are some pieces of information I would be better off without! This is one of them...!
