First?
Apparently the surge is working... I heard that this time McCain wasn't able to visit that market he visited last time he was in Iraq to prove how much progress we've made there... Apparently, it's just too dangerous for Americans to go there now.
@fullmetalbunny - Haha.
Whoa, I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull that "first" off. Darn dial-up.
ACTUAL TOPICAL COMMENT: You gotta love it when they not only can't tell you the source of some explosions, but they also can't confirm whether there was or wasn't a rocket attack in the Green Zone.
@Disturbing_The_Universe - ...You know what depresses me?
There are children who just plain don't remember a time when this war in Iraq wasn't going on. All this... this is all they know.
All we have to do is withdraw all our troops, and suddenly Sunnis and Shiites and Kurds and al-Qaeda terrorists will magically stop hating each other and come together around campfires and sing "Kumbaya" or whatever the Islamic equivalent is. Shame on that muggle McCain for not believing in this magic and proposing that we actually help the Iraqis get through their problems through non-magical means.
@randomneuralfirings - Exactly, it'll work just like our current strategy of throwing money at the Iraqis so the mystical magical victory fairies will rain down peace and happiness upon the nation...
I'm not sure who it was that you were responding to there, but it damn sure wasn't me... Let's see, three ethnic groups that hate each other in a country... We can dump billions and billions of our dollars into their economy and send them thousands of our soldiers for additional targets and they'll still hate each other and be killing each other, or we can say "bye bye" let them kill each other, and spend those billions of dollars fixing American problems like hmmm... let me see, securing our own borders from foreign terrorists...
You're right, my idea is just stupid...

@EarthsAzureLight -
Damn my comment got cut off.
I was basically agree with Disturbing_The_Universe though. We created the unrest in the country, but us staying there isn't going to fix it, you can't fight against radical Islam. You can't beat an idea. Just as Islam can never destroy Christianity.
The money we are wasting in Iraq on a pointless, endless war, we could use back home to fix a lot of problems.
@Disturbing_The_Universe - You're right. We should high-tail it out of Iraq. We should ignore the fact that native groups have largely laid down their arms and started talking in the wake of the surge. After all, they'll probably just pick their weapons back up and start fighting each other again if we leave in the next year. We should just get out of there because we're afraid of Iran and al-Qaeda. Just because we played a big part in destroying their country in the first place doesn't mean we should have to bear any responsibility for helping them rebuild. Besides, the Iraqis can't help the Democratic Party gain control over the whole government, so it's not like their concerns should mean much to us. I mean, if they can't vote in American elections they hardly count as people, right?
By th
(Gotta love the cutoff.)
By the way, as a newly converted Democratic Party loyalist, where should I be turning to get my sage political guidance? It's Pat Buchanan, right?
@randomneuralfirings - Glad you see my view. But I don't really see the point you're trying to make with your sarcasm.
